The film's trailer, originally planned for release on August 3, was rescheduled as a gesture of respect towards the late art director Nitin Desai. The team of Ghoomer, including Abhishek Bachchan, decided to postpone the trailer release event in Mumbai, with the new date set for August 4.

Ghoomer is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 18 and is also set to make its premiere at the 2023 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). Under the direction of R Balki, Ghoomer drew its inspiration from the life of Hungarian marksman Karoly Takacs, renowned for his prowess with his left hand after his right hand suffered an injury, leading him to win two Olympic gold medals. This concept sparked Balki's interest, leading him to transform it into a cricket-centric film. During the 53rd International Film Festival of India, he shared with PTI that rather than portraying shooting, he proposed the idea of a cricket-themed film, as it would be more relatable to audiences.

Balki further elaborated that he aimed to bring a fresh perspective to cricket, acknowledging the abundance of cricket-related films and his desire to contribute something distinct to the sport.
