Gehraiyaan Trailer: Can Relationships Ever Survive Lies And Secrets?

Gehraiyaan trailer was released on January 20, giving viewers a peek into Shakun Batra's tale of love, betrayal and heartbreak. The film, which is headed for a direct OTT release, features Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa in lead. Actors Rajat Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah will also be seen in important roles.

The trailer of Gehraiyaan introduces us to Alisha, played by Padukone, who is in an unhappy relationship. When she meets her cousin Tia (Panday) and her fiance Zain (Chaturvedi) over a vacation, her life takes an unexpected turn. Alisha and Zain start having an affair which messes up their lives and those of their partners.

The film's official blurb"> says- Alisha Khanna, 30, ambitious, now finds herself at a crossroads in life. Her six-year-long relationship has grown monotonous, her career seems to be hitting a lot of roadblocks and just when she had begun to accept this reality as unchangeable, her life is usurped by the arrival of her cousin, Tia and her fiancé, Zain, with whom she bonds over a troubled past and a common wish to break from its confines. The story charts the journey of Alisha and Zain, as they confront the ghost of their past on the path they take to avoid it.

While Ayesha Devitre Dhillon and Shakun Batra have been credited for the story, the film's screenplay has been penned by Ay Dhillon and Shakun Batra along with Sumit Roy.

During the trailer launch, Padukone revealed that she was in London shooting for 83 when Batra flew down and gave her a narration for the film. "It did not feel like a director narrating but a friend coming over. This script has evolved a lot. He had trusted me and I had faith in him. I never doubted or second-guessed his sensibilities," she said.

According to the actor, the audience has never seen her or any other Indian actor play a character like this. "India has not seen a film like this. This is really first. Batra has really being the observer and watching different kinds of people and relationships without judgement. Like Siddhant said that there is no reference point, so one has to really dig deep."

Recalling her experience of shooting the film, Ananya Panday said, "I was happy to be part of a film like this. We were all in Goa for two months. Every moment in this film was magical and we did not just change as an actor but as a person too."

Gehraiyaan will release on Prime Video, on February 11.
