Gaurav Khanna Quitting Anupamaa? Here's What The Actor Has To Say

Gaurav Khanna has reacted to the rumours of his exit from the popular television show Anupamaa. The actor plays Anuj Kapadia and is widely known for his on-screen chemistry with the titular character essayed by Rupali Ganguly. Khanna, in an interview recently, addressed the rumours of him quitting the show.

The show’s latest promo showed Anuj in a coma and made fans assume that his character is coming to an end.

“I will just say that I am completely dedicated to Anupamaa and I have full trust in Rajan Shahi’s version of Anuj. I am fully committed to the show," he said.

On being asked about his screen time being reduced, Khanna said, “When the character was narrated to me, I knew this character was going to be different from what audiences have been watching on TV so far. That’s why Anuj Kapadia’s role became so dear to people."

The actor further added that he has been in the industry for a long time and feels lucky to be a part of this show. "Once or twice in this lifetime does an actor get an opportunity to play an iconic role on TV and I am thankful for that," the actor said.

The show is about Anupamaa (Ganguly) who decides to live on her own terms after she was let down by the family and left her aspirations for. It revolves around her journey of self-discovery and financial independence after her marriage falls apart. One of the tracks in the show followed Anupamaa and her romantic relationship with Anuj Kapadia (Khanna) who was once her batchmate in college. The show has been adapted from a Bengali series named Sreemoyee.

Meanwhile, actor Paras Kalnawat, who played Samar, was ousted from the show on the grounds of ‘breach of contract’. Anupamaa producer shared a statement saying they are terminating his contract after the actor went ahead and signed Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 without intimating them.
