The upcoming thriller Gaslight will star Chitrangda Singh alongside Sara Ali Khan and Vikrant Massey. Through her film choices, the actor has frequently demonstrated her skills. Yet she revealed how she was typecast in the industry in a recent interview.
She started her career as a model in Delhi before switching to the big screen. She was spotted by Sudhir Mishra's production manager while she was appearing in a music video for singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya. She then made her critically lauded acting debut in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. In movies like Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), Desi Boys (2011), I Me Aur Main (2013), Baazaar (2018), and Bob Biswas (2021), Singh has acted as the lead. With the movie Soorma, she became a producer in 2018.
Chitrangda Singh On Seductive Roles
The actor claimed that a variety of factors, including the fact that she has been stereotyped as someone who plays glamorous and seductress parts, led to her small filmography. In an interview with India Today, she said that sometimes actors don’t get the work they want to do because they are not "fortunate" enough to get it. She added that it is not like actors don’t get offered work, but it is the seductress or whatever, just like the same thing coming back to them. She claimed it also depends on the quality of work the actors are looking for and the people they want to work with.

When asked if she has managed to shed the labels over the years, Singh said she doesn't understand this (being typecast as a seductress). She said, "Why is it this way? I didn't wear any makeup and wore a saree in my debut movie. I don't know. I hope I have been able to do that to some extent."
