On Wednesday, the trailer for the upcoming movie Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh by director Rajkumar Santoshi was made public. The trailer offers a compelling glimpse into the terrifying period following India's Partition, when racial unrest brought a young nation to its knees.

On Wednesday, the trailer for the upcoming movie Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh by director Rajkumar Santoshi was made public. The trailer offers a compelling glimpse into the terrifying period following India's Partition, when racial unrest brought a young nation to its knees.

The movie also shows us a parallel reality in which Mahatma Gandhi survived Nathuram Godse's gunshots and began to change the man who had attempted to kill him through conversation and a smile. Actors Chinmay Mandlekar and Deepak Antani portray Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi, respectively, and there is an uncanny resemblance between the two.

The trailer depicts the rift in New India as ideologies are divided down to religion during a turbulent period of the nation's history following the 1947 partition. Gandhi and the things he stands for are opposed by Chinmay Godse. He picks up a gun in preparation because he thinks that using violence to stop the man is the only option.

The trailer explores what might have happened if Gandhi had survived the assassination attempt and attempted to reason with his killer after Godse was put behind bars. The trailer depicts their dramatic encounter. As the country is in upheaval, both men express their opinions.

Gandhi is seen in the trailer meeting with other notable figures of the era, such as Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. Ambedkar, and suggesting that the Congress Party be dissolved. Nehru is heard &t=1s">saying at one point, "Koi chahe toh ek din mein Godse bann sakta hain, lekin Gandhi banne mein puri umar lag jati hai. One can become Godse in a day, but it takes a lifetime to become someone like Gandhi"

Tanisha Santoshi, the son of Rajkumar Santoshi, and Anuj Saini are also introduced in Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh. The movie, which Manila Santoshi produced, features an Oscar-winning score by AR Rahman. On January 26, 2023, Republic Day, the movie will be shown in theatres.

After nine long years, director Rajkumar Santoshi, who is known for directing such blockbusters as Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak, and Andaaz Apna Apna, is making a comeback to the big screen. His most recent film to be directed was Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (2013), which starred Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz.
