From Gehraiyaan to 83 to Loop Lapeta : 5 Films We Will Soon See On OTT

The coming month might not see an increase in theatrical release due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country and the limitations imposed on theatres in the city. However, movies have started to release on OTT platforms and many are expected to arrive soon in the coming months.

The list ranges from movies like Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui to Loop Lapeta and 83. Here are five movies releasing on OTT that you can watch soon.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui:

The Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor starrer movie that released on December 10,2021 in theatres, has now made a OTT release on Netflix. The story is about a gym instructor Manu and Zumba instructor Maanvi which take us through the roller coaster ride of their love story.

The movie directed by Kedarnath fame director Abhishek Kapoor and produced by T-series and Guy In The Sky Pictures, takes up the issue faced by transgenders in the society and their conflict when it comes to finding love. The movie was not a box office hit, it received positive and negative reviews from critics and audience.

Cheering for the historic world cup win of India in 1983, in the Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer, may not immediately happen. The Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Shibashish Sarkar has said that the movie will get released on digital platforms or satellite television only after eight week/2 months of theatre run globally.

The movie released in theatres on December 24,2o21 and has garnered quite many positive reviews for uncanny resemblance by Ranveer Singh as former Indian captain-Kapil Dev. As the movie could entertain mostly the cricket loving audience in theatres for its accurate representation of 1983 world cup, without any drama attached- the movie did not prove to be a big success in theatres.

 Pushpa: The Rise

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's Pushpa has released on Amazon Prime Video on January 7,2022. The movie which stars Telugu superstar Allu Arjun in titular role, shows the role of a truck driver named Pushpa. He is shown to be involved in smuggling of precious red sandalwood trees of Seesachalam forests.

It has released in four languages, namely Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, with English subtitles. From the day of its release in theatres, the movie has received positive reviews and has turned out to be a hit. The movie will release in two parts- the second one is expected to release during December 2022.

 Gehraiyaan

The release date of much-awaited movie starring Deepika Padukone was announced by the actor on her birthday on January 5,2022. She confirmed the movie will release on Amazon Prime Videos on February 11. The movie is a relationship drama which also casts Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Pandey , Dhairya Karwa in the lead roles.

The Shakun Batra movie was earlier going to release on January 25. However, Gehraiyaan like the other movies, including RRR, Jersey, postponed the release due to surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. Produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios in association with Josuka Films, the movie portrays the modern day complexities of relationship. Ever since the first update of the film got released by the cast members, the film has created a buzz on social media sites. The fans and followers have been expressing curiosity as to how the narrative will play out. The film also gave credit to its intimacy director Dar Gai on the film's posters.

5. Loop Lapeta:

The comedy action thriller movie Loop Lapeta, starring Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin will be releasing digitally on February 4, 2022. The actors have been engagaed in promotion for the film through their posts and dropping hints to their fans about what their character is going to be like.

The movie directed by Aakash Bhatia is a Hindi remake of Run Lola Run, the 1998 German hit film, which starred Franka Potente, Moritz Bleibtreu among others. Sony Pictures Films India, Ellipsis Entertainment and Aayush Maheshwari have co-produced the movie that will hit Netflix in February. The movie seems to offer adventurous ride where a girlfriend is on rescue mission for her boyfriend. The film was supposed to release in theatres but due to the COVID-19 situation in the country causing yet another closure of cinema halls, the film will now be released on the OTT platform.
