After receiving a complaint that the film Masoom Sawaal's poster, which depicts a picture of Lord Krishna on a sanitary pad, allegedly offended religious sentiments, the police formally filed a case against the director and several members of the Masoom Sawaal team.
According to a senior police source who spoke to PTI, the First Information Report (FIR) was filed on Sunday against the makers, including director Santosh Upadhyay, and his firm, on the complaint of Amit Rathore, president of the Hindu Rashtra Navnirman Sena.
Swatantra Singh, a Sahibabad Circle officer, reportedly stated that the FIR was filed in accordance with section 295 (injuring or defiling places of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to PTI, the complainant claimed that the presence of a picture of Lord Krishna on a sanitary pad had offended the devotees of "Sanatana Dharma" and could spark riots in Uttar Pradesh.
