Vidya Balan acted as a very loving mother to Auro, who was played by Amitabh Bachchan. Balan played the role of Dr Vidya Bharadwaj, a caring mother who takes care of her son with a rare genetic illness called progeria. Bachchan and Balan's friendly and genuine connection in this film won hearts.
Amitabh Bachchan won the National Film Award for Best Actor in the film, marking his third time winning the award.
