Singers Who Made It Big In Punjabi Music Industry

Women are taking over the Punjabi music industry. Not only do these they have amazing voices, but they also act and perform in most of their music videos. Through their hit songs, they have made it big in the industry and also earned their own audience. Who are these women and what's their story?

Gurlej Akhtar:

Akhtar has sung several popular songs in the Punjabi industry, but the songs which gained the most praise in 2021 were Shareef and Ghunghru. Both are duet songs with over 12 million views. She comes from a singer's family, as her family is in the music industry.

This Punjabi singer also known as the "Duet Queen" in Punjabi industry. She hails from Ludhiana and started singing in her childhood and got her first single with Sukhwinder Sukhi in the year 2001 -2002. 

Sunanda Sharma:

She is a very popular face in music industry and in the year 2021 she gave two super hit songs. Chori Chori with over 40 million views and Pagal Nahi Hona featuring Sonu Sood with over 85 million views created a lot of buzz on social media.

Sunanda is a playback singer and an actor who gained popularity at a very young age by uploading her covers of other's songs on her YouTube channel .She got her first song "Billi Ankh" and from them she has sung many hit songs and even sang for Bollywood films.  She won Best debut female Pop vocalist at PTC Punjabi Music Awards. 

She is well known for acting features in songs one of them is Baarish Ki Jaye.

Kaur B:

She sang for five music albums in 2021 from which her independent ones Laija Laija have more than six million views and Aah gal has over 5 million views. Her recent duet album featuring Dilpreet Dhillon has over nine million views.

Baljinder Kaur aka Kaur B  is a singer, model and an actress . She was a participant of Awaj Punjabi Di - 3 (2010) , and later also became runner up of Voice of Punjab in 2011. She debuted in 2013 in Punjabi Music Industry and gave a hit song Classmate. 

Barbie Maan:

Jasmeet Kaur Maan known as Barbie Maan has given many hit duet songs in the Punjabi Music industry. Her song Teri Gali has 37 million views featuring Asim Riaz, written by Guru Randhawa and Ajj Kal Ve have 44million views with Sidhu Moosewala became huge hit. Her solo singles like Lamborghini, Jaan and Suit also made buzz on social media in 2021. Maan belongs to a Sikh family of Punjab. She is a singer, Composer, Influencer, and Model from Punjabi Music Industry. She has given many hit duet songs in the Punjabi Music industry. Her music genres are Bhangra and Pop. 

Simran Kaur Dhadli:

Her song Barood Wargi became popular after Vicky Kaushal's reel on Instagram. People started praising her for her work in Barood Wargi and considered her as the future of the female Punjabi Music industry. She released her second song Lahu Di Awaaz on her own channel, which got mixed reactions from the audience and even got her criticism.

Simran (24) from Ambala Haryana is an Punjabi singer , lyricist and composer. She has recorded with many labels of Punjabi music industry. She debuted in 2019 and her 6th song Barood Wargi became popular after Vicky Kaushal's reel on Instagram in 2021.  

Afsana Khan:

One of her song Titliyan is a massive success of her career. In 2021 her duet song Jodaa featuring Jatinder Shah became popular with over 30 million views. Afsana (27) is a Punjabi playback singer and actor . She was also a participant of Voice of Punjab -3 (2012 ) and has started her career from there only. She also participated in Rising star -1 and was in the top 7. She is well known for her participation in Bigg Boss season 15 .

Nimrat Khaira:

She has given many hit solo Punjabi songs in her career. In 2021 her singles Gallan Chandi Diya ,and Chaand were loved by the audience. She also gave a duet song What Be with Diljit Dosanjh which has 17 million views. Nimrat (29) is from Batala ,Punjab. She is the winner of Voice of Punjab 3 ,and she started her music journey in 2015 from the song Rab Karke. She has given many hit solo Punjabi songs in her career. She started her acting debut in the year 2017 with the film Lahoriye and has done 2 more films.

Asees Kaur:

She is known for her hit bollywood numbers, but her punjabi songs also became super popular in 2021.Surma featuring Jassi gill , Aaya Kado Da, Galat and Apsara became very popular on social media specially on reels on Instagram. The 33-year-old singer is from Panipat, Haryana and she started to sing from a very small age . She participated in different reality shows like , Awaaj Punjab Di and Indian Idol. She is a popular playback singer in Bollywood as well as Pollywood.

Prakriti Kakkar:

Her Punjabi songs albums like Majnu and Sona lagda became very popular in 2021. Audience showered a lot of love on both the songs and has more than 30 million views. Prakriti debuted in the year 2012 with the song Tutiya Dil. She and her sister Sukriti Kakkar are a famous pair in the Indian Music Industry. She is a native of Delhi. 

Himanshi Khurrana:

She is a very well-known face of Punjabi Music industry and has given many popular hits too. Her latest songs that made it in 2021 were Surma Bole , Habibi and Gallan Bholiyan. She won Miss Ludhiana when she was just 16. She started her music career with the song Jodi (2010) and her acting career from Soch 2013 by featuring in the album with Harry Sandhu it became a super hot album. Himanshi got the game overnight in the music industry.
