Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are excited as the premiere of their most awaited show Ms Marvel is inching closer. The upcoming series of Phase 4 of the MCU will present the first-ever Muslim South Asian superhero. The series will follow the story of the ordinary teen Kamala Khan, essayed by Iman Vellani, who transitions into a superhero Ms Marvel. She decides on her title based on her favourite superhero Captain Marvel.
Kamala hails from an immigrant family living in New Jersey. She is an avid gamer and a fan-fiction writer who idolises Captain Marvel but she still feels left out and that she does not fit in at school and occasionally at home. Things change for the teenager when she realizes that she also has the superpowers like those heroes she looked up to.
Farhan Akhtar Joins Ms Marvel Cast
The series that will release on June 8 on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar has an impressive lineup of the cast which includes Indian-American actor Anjali Bhimani, and Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat. The latest to join the ensemble cast is Bollywood’s powerhouse, Farhan Akhtar.
The actor-director will be part of the MCU show but details about his character are being kept under wraps. A major publication reported that the actor’s role in the show will be that of a guest appearance. However, this news has definitely piqued the audience’s interest in the show.
The cast of the show also includes talented artists like Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, and Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.
The show, created by Bisha K Ali and directed by Meera Menon, Sharmeen Ubaid-Chinoy and El Arbi and Fallah, will be a six-episode series. Vellani will reprise her role in the next MCU film The Marvels.
Ms Marvel debuted in the world of Marvel comics in 2014 and was introduced by Gerry Conway and John Buscema. The character was created by Sana Amanat.
As for Farhan, he is currently directing a film starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif named Jee Le Zaraa. He also has a multi-year partnership with Netflix via the production house Excel Entertainment he started with Ritesh Sidhwani.
