Netflix is back with yet another season of Emily In Paris. The previous seasons have been bashed for their complex characters, cultural stereotypes, crisscrossing love stories (We get it Gabrielle - Emily and Camille are both stunning but make up your mind) and finally jumbled and chaotic work life. In the midst of all, there is only one character who provides us with a little refuge and clarity. She is the only one who is clear in her head.

Hi Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park. Or better known as "Emily's cheerful and sunshine-like Asian best friend."

Mindy's brave run from her past

She comes from a loaded family in Shanghai. A rich kid running from home to pursue their dreams of being a pop singer. It may sound cliche but it takes courage. Mindy was born with a silver spoon and after fleeing to Paris from China she worked as a nanny to earn a couple of euros here and there. Gotta appreciate her commitment, right?

How to make friends lessons by Mindy 101

Mindy carries her heart on her sleeve. Be it her friendships or romantic partners, she gives it her all. Do you remember how the most iconic friends trope on the show, Emily-Mindy got to talking? Emily was simply sitting in a park feeling down. Chen arrives there casually barking at the kids she was in charge of, relishing and reliving her love for the city of Paris and remembering the troubles of her own life. Yes, all in the same minute.

At the very next moment, she gives her digits to Emily. "You get lonely, you text me, we have dinner," she quotes. Frankly, that's all one wants to hear after arriving in a new state and feeling lost

Girl is SAVAGE

Mindy is sweet and savage in equal proportions. She is independent and has agency. Her moral compass is so strong, it's like a guiding light which takes her to every right decision in all areas including love and work. Season 4 spoiler coming in, she is in a relationship with Nicolas (calls him Nico). Might I remind you, he is the son of a billionaire designer, Louis? Mindy had grown up in a similar loaded and rich household. You'd think she has gotten used to feeding on maman et papa's money. Big No!

When Nico gifts her couture from his father's fashion line to make her more "presentable" in front of his dad, she resents it. As soon as she finds out she confronts him saying, "Did you give me this dress to make me more palatable to your dad? So rather than standing up to him, you decided I was the problem?" (spoiler ends here)

Her "Damn Girl" moment surrounding the dress does not end here. As the gift was based on poor intent, she sold it for 3258,00 euros! This solves her and her band's financial constraints for a long time.

Mindy One-liners are pure gold

Mindy does not talk like regular people. She keeps throwing these bizarre phrases, which are supremely funny. We have accumulated these here for when you're having a bad day.

Sorry for the c*ck block.

She says when she interrupts a make-out session between Emily and Gabrielle.

I'd Bon Appetit him.

The cute French chef serves them and says Bon Appetit which is french for "enjoy your meal." Mindy makes it meet with this spicy comment.

He's got the world by the balls, literally!

Mindy says this about her father who is big in the business of trouser fastening.

The French are romantics, but also realists.

Mindy gives a reality check to Emily

Gig's economy is a scam, Em. I'd sell feet pics... but there's something demoralizing about doing a job you did in high school.

We don't know if Mindy is joking here. But her frustation of not finding money for her gig could have lead to revelation of this blast from the past.

I can't believe how cheap I feel in a dress this expensive.

Great oxymoron-ic reference Chen! Mindy says this when she finds out her boyfriend gifted her designer couture to make her more presentable in public.

As Season 4 Part 2 is all set to release on September 12 2024, we may see some changes in Mindy's love life. We saw smoking chemistry between her and her band partner while jamming to "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." It looked like they were really making this sweet promise to each other, their eye-lock said they intended to keep it. What about Nicolas then? Let this September reveal.
