For the next Fantastic Four film, fans have been hoping to see the real-life couple in the reel life. Rumours about the casting of Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman and Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic were out. But the Edge of Tomorrow actor Emily Blunt has turned all of them down and also said that she displayed no interest in them so far. She also confirmed that no one from Marvel had approached her for the project.

Emily Blunt on working in superhero movies

Blunt said on The Howard Stern Show, "That is fan casting. No one has received a phone call, that’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great." Further, Stern pressed upon the topic of whether superhero movies are "beneath" Blunt. To this, she denied by saying that it’s not.

She mentioned that she loves Iron Man and when she got offered Black Widow she was obsessed with Iron Man. Blunt also showed interest in working with  Robert Downey Jr. She said that it would’ve been amazing but she still is unsure of whether superhero movies are for her. Blunt added, "They’re not up to my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t."

Blunt also mentioned that the genre has been "exhausted" and has left her feeling "a bit cold". The 38-year-old star said that the genre has been exhausted. The viewers and actors are inundated. She added that it's not only all the movies but also the endless TV shows. The actor further said that it's not to say that she would never want to play a role in the superhero movie but it would just have to be something really cool of a character.

Emily Blunt had previously turned down Black Widow citing contractual obligations to film Gulliver’s Travels. The next Fantastic Four movie is in the works but no news about the casting has come out yet.
