Ayushmann Khurrana, who is known for his quirky social dramas, is back with yet another film familiar to his genre. Billed as a medical campus comedy, Doctor G sees Khurrana in the role of a reluctant male gynaecologist struggling to find a place for himself in an all-female classroom.
Also starring Shefali Shah, Rakul Preet Singh and Sheeba Chadha, the trailer of Doctor G has been released. Anubhuti Kashyap, sister of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, will be making her debut as a feature film director with the upcoming project.

Khurrana plays the role of doctor Uday Gupta, who wanted to specialise in orthopaedic, but is stuck in an all-female class of gynaecology. The film follows his ordeal of will he/won't he change his department, or will the department change his attitude? While he continues to believe that patients are more comfortable with female gynaecologists, his professor and a senior medical practitioner Dr Nandini, played by Shah , explains that the comfort will arise only when he is ready to change his mindset.
Singh will star opposite Khurrana as Dr Fatima, a medical student. Chadha will be playing the role of Khurrana’s mother in the film.

Khurrana earlier spoke about playing a gynaecologist in Doctor G and said, “It’s an honour to portray a doctor on the screen for the first time.” He added that he was “truly excited” to shoot the film as it would allow him to relieve his memories of being a student and living in a hostel.
Delhi Crime star Shefali Shah had earlier praised the film’s script, written by Vishal Wagh, Saurabh Bharat, Sumit Saxena, and Kashyap.
