Dimple Hayathi, a Tollywood actor, and a friend were detained by Hyderabad police on Tuesday for allegedly damaging a senior police officer's car. On Monday night, they allegedly struck Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rahul Hegde's official vehicle with their car.

Dimple Hayathi, who made her acting debut in the 2019 film Gulf, has since appeared in Khiladi and Ramabanam. She has appeared in a few Tamil films and contributed to the Hindi film Atrangi Re in 2021.

The actor and his friend David live in the upscale Journalists Colony of Jubilee Hills, where the Indian Police Service (IPS) officer also resides.

The actor and her friend were accused of damaging the DCP's car, which was parked in the designated spot in the cellar, in a report made by Chetan Kumar, the driver of the DCP, to the Jubilee Hills Station. The complainant alleged that the two purposefully damaged the vehicle.

  • Police opened an investigation into Dimple Hayathi and her friend based on the complaint and filed charges against them under several IPC sections. According to section 41 A of the Criminal Procedure Code, both were notified to appear at the police station.
  • The chief constable and the driver of the car in the complaint said that they frequently encountered Hayathi and her friend blocking their path when parking the car in the designated spot in the apartment cellar. The officer alleged that they purposefully damaged the car by moving it backwards.
  • The actor also allegedly kicked the traffic cones that were next to the car after causing damage to them. The conduct was captured on camera by a CCTV system, according to the lawsuit.
  • Following this, the head constable filed an FIR against Hayathi and her friend on May 17 at the Jubilee Hills Police Station under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or criminal force to prevent a public official from performing his duty), and 279 (rash driving).
  • Dimple Hayathi's male companion and the investigating officer were called to the police station on Monday. After making inquiries, the officer served both of them with a notice pursuant to Section 41 A of the CrPC.

The actor has since released a post on Twitter in which she asks her followers to be patient as they await her official comment regarding the incident.
