Dhamaka release date: The OTT lineup for the year-end looks exciting with many highly-anticipated series and films gearing up for release. The holiday season sure looks entertaining. Among the titles on fans' watchlists is the Ram Madhvani-directed thriller Dhamaka. Starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead as a journalist, it is a remake of the Korean film The Terror Live.
Its release later this month comes exactly a year after the film was initially announced last year in November. Dhamaka's shooting reportedly only took ten days in December 2021. Other actors appearing in significant roles include Mrunal Thakur, Amruta Subhash and Vishwajeet Pradhan. More here.
Though the production and post-production faced minor breaks owing to COVID-19, the film wrapped up well within a year. It was set for a theatrical release but producers finally settled on an OTT premiere.
A trailer for Dhamaka was released three weeks ago.
Dhamaka Release Date And Plot, What To Expect
Dhamaka releases on Netflix, November 19. Aaryan steps into the shoes of Arjun Pathak, "a cynical ex-TV news anchor" as described by the trailer. He gets a call from a terrorist on his radio show, which opens up the possibility of him returning to his television fame in all his glory. But at a price that he may or may not be willing to pay.
As per certain reports, the lead in Dhamaka was earlier meant to be a woman, with the choices of Taapsee Pannu and Kriti being considered for the role of a journalist instead of Aaryan. However, the role ultimately went to him. Dhamaka is his first OTT film release.
Aaryan, 30, is best known for his debut film Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011 and other Luv Ranjan titles. In 2019, he took the lead in two rom-com films, Luka Chuppi and Pati Patni Aur Woh. He will also be seen in the upcoming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, a sequel to the 2007 film that starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan.
