After the exit of actor Eijaz Khan from the reality show due to some professional commitments, Devoleena Bhattacharjee has entered the Bigg Boss 14 house again to participate on the reality show in his place.
Bhattacharjee, who was a contestant in the last season of Bigg Boss has already started getting noticed by the dedicated viewers of the show. While in the last season, she was seen bonding with television actor Rashami Desai, this season has begun with her picking up a fight with Nikki Tamboli
Here are ten things to know about Devoleena Bhattacharjee:
1. Born in Assam, Bhattacharjee shot to fame with her role as Gopi Bahu in the serial Saath Nibhana Saathiya.
2. Bhattacharjee completed her higher studies from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi.
3. The actor lost her father at a very young age. After her father's death, her mother supported Bhattacharjee in pursuing her dream of becoming a trained dancer.
4. Devoleena Bhattacharjee is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, and even auditioned for the reality dance show- Dance India Dance Season 2.
5. She took part in Bigg Boss 13 but exited due to medical reasons. Bhattacharjee had a history of back pain, which ascended after one of her co-contestants in the show swung her while dancing.
6. After her exit from the show, director and producer Vikas Gupta entered the Bigg Boss 13 house as a proxy. She was to return to the show after her recovery, but doctors advised her to rest.
7. Recently she was in news for speaking up for her friend Divya Bhatnagar who allegedly was a victim of domestic violence. Bhatnagar passed away due to COVID-19 last year. Read more about it here.
8. Bhattacharjee has now entered the Bigg Boss house as a proxy for Eijaz Khan. Even before she entered the show, Bhattacharjee was very active in following the contestants and their game from the outside.
9. In an interview, Bhattacharjee revealed that it was infact her mother who encouraged her to join the show. "My mother wanted me to move into the 'Bigg Boss' house instead of travelling to my hometown Assam," she told Times of India.
10. During the show, Bhattacharjee opened up about losing her father at the age of 11, and how it impacted her life. "My mother would go to office even when she was unwell. She would cook food for us, and we went to school," she revealed. Bhattacharjee further added that "The way the society treated us in the absence of our father….It is a fact of life, society looks down upon families where a father is not present." Read more here.
