Twitter User Compares Depp-Heard And Gabby Petito Cases, Arguments Are Unmissable

Depp-Heard and Gabby Petito cases apparently share similarities that were pointed out by a Twitter user and once you see it, you can't unsee it. The Depp-Heard case ended with Johnny Depp winning the higher compensation while Heard won the hate of his fans.

The amount of trolling, threats and online mockery that Amber Heard received from Johnny Depp's supporters and fans is known to the entire world. While the verdict was in favour of Depp, the domestic abuse allegations still remain a topic of discussion. This is majorly because a similar case on Depp regarding abusing Heard was filed in UK in 2020 whose verdict was announced in Heard's favour. The verdicts in US and UK differ entirely which raises many questions. Recently, a Twitter user compared the case to another high profile case and pointed out some troubling similarities.

On June 16, 2022, a Twitter user Kamilla made a tweet that said, "can’t believe that after the Gabby Petito case, in which her fiancé convinced the cops that he was the victim, ppl now believe that a 23 yr old actress just starting her career somehow abused a multimillionaire A lister twice her age that has another trial for assault next month". She also shared several incidents that were similar in both the cases of domestic abuse and how the verdict in Depp-Heard case could be flawed.

Depp-Heard And Gabby Petito Case

The Gabby Petito case was filed in August 2021 when an American woman named Gabby went missing after she went on a trip with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie. Later the FBI discovered that she was killed by Brian on the trip who later killed himself. The couple was involved in a domestic abuse before that when Brian claimed that Gabby assaulted him and was able to convince the cops but later was responsible for murdering her.

In the tweet, Kamilla provided clippings, images and incidents from Gabby Petito case that were similar to the Depp-Heard case. This included the joking and laughing nature of 'victims' Brain and Depp, both Gabby and Heard were announced as 'hysterical', both Brian and Depp claimed that they were protecting themselves when they were caught getting physically violent with Gabby and Heard.

The tweet also talked about DARVO that stands for “Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender” which is a situation where abusers claims to be the one who is abused. The tweet pointed out that the expert who termed the coin allegedly claimed that Depp and his lawyers were using this technique throughout the trail.

One important think that Kamilla pointed out was during the Gabby case, the public opinion said that survivors remained calm while abusers cracked jokes during trials. The opinion reversed in the case of Depp-Heard. The public opinion was a major factor that Heard was trolled and abused online.
