What Deepika Padukone Can't Live Without

Padukone, born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Konkani-speaking Indian parents, has a heart rooted in South India, which is evident in her taste preferences. She often refers to Rasam rice as her comfort food, her go-to meal, and her most loved dish.

Rasam rice, also known as rasam sadam, is a beloved South Indian dish that blends the rich flavours of rasam (a spicy and tangy broth) with cooked rice. This dish is a staple in South Indian homes, especially in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and is often enjoyed as a comforting and hearty meal.

Here's more about Rasam, which Padukone apparently enjoys drinking with her hands. Rasam is a savoury broth made with a mix of spices, tamarind, and tomatoes. The broth features spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chilli peppers, creating a warm and aromatic flavour profile. Tamarind adds a tangy and slightly sweet touch, while tomatoes bring in a burst of freshness.

Her love for South Indian cuisine extends beyond Rasam rice. Padukone enjoys Idli Sambar for breakfast and is fond of filter coffee. Her diet often includes dosas and medu vadas whenever she can. She has mentioned her fondness for medu vadas and masala dosa from CTR (Central Tiffin Room) in Bangalore. However, rasam rice remains her ultimate comfort food that she can't live without.

Padukone, who will soon be seen in Kalki 2898 AD, recently gave us a glimpse of her real-life chemistry with co-star Prabhas. At the film's pre-release event, a viral video showed the soon-to-be mommy touching her baby bump and joking, "Actually, I’m like this because of all the food he’s fed me.” She was referring to Prabhas' love for food and his habit of sharing delicious dishes with his co-stars on set. With her love for Rasam Rice, are you sure Prabhas didn’t offer her some? We think it should be a must!
