Actor Dakota Fanning has been tapped to play Susan Elizabeth Ford in the Showtime anthology series The First Lady. Author Susan is the only daughter of Betty Ford and President Gerald Ford, who’s characters will be played in the series by Michelle Pfeiffer and Aaron Eckhart respectively.

The Alienist star will appear in six episodes, as a teenager in the White House during the tumultuous mid-70’s, she often introduced progressive ideas to her family.
According to Variety, the anthology series titled The First Lady, headlined by Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, and O-T Fagbenle as President Barack Obama, among others. The series is directed and executive produced by Susanne Bier and produced by Lionsgate TV and Showtime.
Also, it will mark the reunion of Fanning with Michelle Pfeiffer with whom she starred in the 2001 film I Am Sam.
Rhys Wakefield, Judy Greer, Jayme Lawson and Kristine Froseth will feature as recurring guest stars in the show. The First Lady is written and executive produced by Aaron Cooley. The upcoming Showtime series is directed by Emmy winner Susanne Bier.

The 27-year-old actor earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for her performance in the film. Also, she became the youngest person to be nominated for the award at the age of seven. She also won a Best Young Actor/Actress Critics Choice Award for War of the Worlds helmed by Steven Spielberg. Recently, Fanning was seen in the TNT series The Alienist as Sara Howard.
