Critics Choice Awards 2021: The 26th annual Critics Choice Awards held on Sunday night honoured an unpredictable season of television and films with Nomadland and The Crown walking away with numerous trophies. Gillian Anderson won for Best Supporting Actress for Drama for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher, while Emma Corrin won Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Crown Season 4. Nomadland won the Best Picture while filmmaker Chloe Zhao picked up the Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay trophies too. Other female actors to have won major awards this year are Anya Taylor-Joy and Zendaya.
25-year-old Emma Corrin thanked her fans after her win, saying, "What an incredible collection of women to be nominated with. Thank you so much to Netflix and my incredible family on The Crown and it left bank. Her for letting me play or Diana. It's been the biggest joy. Thank you to all the cast and crew who worked on the series with me."

In her speech after her big win, Anya Taylor-Joy, who won Best Actress in a Limiter Series for The Queen’s Gambit, teased fans with season 2.“It is obviously incredibly flattering that people want to spend more time with characters that we care so much about and that we poured so much love into,” she said, also adding, “but we did intend it to be a limited series, so we were all quite surprised when people started asking for Season 2. That being said, never say never.”

Chloé Zhao dedicated her Critics' Choice Award to Michael Wolf Snyder, the Nomadland production sound mixer who recently died by suicide at the age of 35.
