Cecil Hotel murder: Netflix has dropped a four-part documentary named Crime Scene: The Vanishing At Cecil Hotel on February 10.

Twenty-one-year-old Canadian tourist, Elisa Lam, disappeared from a Los Angeles hotel in 2013. Ten things to know about the captivating true-crime docuseries, available for streaming in India now. 

1. The series on Cecil Hotel murder is about a 21-year-old Canadian tourist called Elisa Lam, who was solo travelling and disappeared from an infamous Los Angeles hotel in 2013. Lam was staying in Cecil Hotel, from where she was reported missing, only to be discovered dead.

3.To unravel the conspiracy theories about Lam's disappearance that day, director Joe Berlinger was inspired to make this series and said "We need to talk about the ghost stories," BBC reported.

"For the average viewer it's another compelling story you watch and then move on to the next. But for who this happened to, it's the worst moment in their life. It's a real tragedy for that person and that family," he added.

4. Her mysterious death grabbed eyeballs since LA’s Cecil Hotel was infamous for being a temporary home to serial killers, multiple murders, suicides.

5. What led to a strange missing person case was when a video of Lam, filmed in a hotel elevator before she vanished, went viral when it was released by LA police during their investigation.

6. The clip showed signs of her unusual behaviour that day. She entered the elevator but the doors didn't close. In the video, she appeared to be speaking with someone unseen and her movements were unusually strange in the CCTV footage. She jumped in and out of the elevator and then vanished into thin air.

7. When her body was found wedged in one of the water tanks atop the hotel, the officials had ruled that she died from drowning. They also claimed that she was suffering from a personality disorder.

8. However, after her death, many bizarre circumstances occurred including murders and it was dubbed as the death hotel, calling the evidence a supernatural activity.

9. As per reports, her mission video, the main evidence in connection with the crime, has similarities to the plot of horror movie Dark Water.

10. The Netflix docuseries will possibly try to unravel the mystery behind the incident, one of  L.A.'s most disturbing and unresolved chapter.
