After the Tamil Nadu government called for Amazon Prime Video's original series The Family Man to be banned on Monday, its creators Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru responded backing the show.
The makers of the show said that assumptions about the show have been made based on a few shots in the trailer that was released on May 19.
A statement asking people to wait for the show has been shared by the creators, and the actors Manoj Bajpayee and Sharib Hashmi on social media. The statement further said that the cast and crew of the show have utmost love and respect towards Tamil people, and have taken great pains to bring a "sensitive, balanced and riveting story".
The makers also said that many of the show's "key members", "creative and writing team are Tamilians" and are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people.
After the trailer of the show was released on May 19, local authority representative Vaiko contacted the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar making a complaint against the show. The complaint claimed that the content of the trailer had hurt the sentiments of Tamil culture and people and are offensive to the community, and has depicted Tamil people “as terrorists”.

It also said that the trailer depicts the Elam Tamils in a negative light and has presented them in a "highly objectionable manner" and attempts to discredit the struggle of the Elam Tamils in Sri Lanka.
The letter urged that the Ministry should stop the release of The Family Man 2 and added that the people of Tamil Nadu will react very seriously otherwise, and the government will have to face serious consequences.
The letter further said that branding a Tamil speaking actor (Samantha Akkineni) as a terrorist in the show is a direct attack on the pride of Tamil people all around the world and that no one would tolerate "this kind of motivated and mischievous campaign". The first season of the show was also criticised on the claims that it sympathized with terrorists.
