A complaint has been filed against the makers of films Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu, for allegedly ridiculing differently-abled people.
Co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities and complainant Dr. Satendra Singh, who also has a 70% locomotor handicap, has released a copy of the notice the court commissioner issued in response to his complaint. However, the social justice and empowerment ministry did not provide any confirmation on the subject.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and the directors of Laal Singh Chaddha and Shabaash Mithu have all been asked to respond to the matter, according to the notice from the court of commissioner for persons with disabilities. The complaint claims that by making derogatory comments about individuals with disabilities, the films violate the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

It was discovered a few days ago that the Kolkata High Court has recently received a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) against Lal Singh Chaddha. In Bengal, it is demanded that the movie be completely banned due to alleged civil unrest. Additionally, on August 12, a Delhi-based lawyer filed a complaint with Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora accusing Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Paramount Pictures, and other entities of "disrespecting the Indian Army and hurting Hindu sentiments" in their production of Laal Singh Chaddha.
In his complaint to Delhi Police, lawyer Vineet Jindal claimed that the film had objectionable material and asked for the filing of an FIR under sections 153, 153A, 298, and 505 of the IPC against Khan, the director Advait Chandan, and Paramount Pictures. While Shabaash Mithu, directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios, is based on the life of Mithali Raj, it stars Taapsee Pannu in the titular role. The film was released on July 15, 2022.
