Chamkila Trailer: Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh Bring To Life The Story Of Musical Icons

Netflix India has recently dropped the much-anticipated trailer for Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film, featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. Titled Chamkila, the movie delves into the untold story of Punjab's original rockstar, known for his mass appeal and unique musical style.

The trailer introduces us to a young man, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, residing in a village in Punjab. Initially mispronounced as Chamkila by an event organiser, he is urged to perform despite the misunderstanding. His music captivates the village, especially the women, despite facing criticism for the supposedly provocative nature of his song lyrics. As the narrative unfolds, we witness the protagonist's journey as his music gains traction, igniting both admiration and controversy. Despite conservative objections to his songs' content, his popularity continues to soar, resonating deeply with the masses.

Amidst this backdrop, the trailer introduces Amarjot Kaur, played by Parineeti Chopra, who emerges as a pivotal figure in the protagonist's musical journey. As his singing partner, Amarjot Kaur adds depth and dimension to the narrative, forming a powerful duo that captivates audiences with their electrifying performances.

Chamkila Release Date

Earlier, Netflix officially revealed the release date for the highly anticipated film Chamkila. Announcing on Instagram, the streaming service shared a short clip featuring Diljit Dosanjh, who stars alongside Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. Alongside the video, Netflix wrote, "Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz (banjo emoji). Imtiaz Ali's AmarSinghChamkila is arriving on April 12 exclusively on Netflix!"

Imtiaz Ali's 'Amar Singh Chamkila' is a biopic on Punjab's 27-year-old record-breaking artist of the 1980s and the unresolved assassination of him and his wife along with two band members. This film marks the first collaboration between Dosanjh and director Imtiaz Ali.
