"I'm Not Giving Up": Celine Dion Cancels World Tour Due Amid Health Struggle

Singing sensation Celine Dion recently announced that she would be cancelling the Courage World Tour due to health issues.

The singer announced that she would be cancelling the world tour due to her medical condition. Dion is suffering from stiff-person syndrome, which has reportedly taken a toll on her health and impacted her singing.

The singer apologised to her fans for postponing shows and revealed she believed it was best to "cancel everything" until she is ready to be back on stage again.

Dion signed off by saying, "I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”

In December 2022, Celine Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. She added that due to the disorder, she was unable to "sing the way I'm used to". Her recent statement also revealed that stiff-person syndrome caused severe and persistent muscle spasms, which prevented her from performing.

The stiff-person syndrome is a rare condition of the nervous system that hinders the functioning of the brain and spinal cord. Dion was diagnosed with it in December 2022 because of which she had to cancel her events. The condition causes muscle rigidity and spasms and affects mobility as well as the stimuli of a person. Initially, the stiffness is encountered in the middle body muscles, abdomen and trunk and soon the stiffness moves to other body muscles.

In her statement, Dion said that she is doing her best to fight the condition and will not give up. However, no matter how healthy she is, a tour can still be a difficult feat. She does not want to give false hopes and then cancel or postpone her shows due to her health as it is not fair for her fans. Hence, she has come to a decision to cancel tours unless she is healthy enough to go back on stage and perform the way she does.

Dion's statement also mentioned that she is currently undergoing physical therapy.

Talking about her struggle with the syndrome, she has said that she would get spasms that would make it difficult for her to walk and use her vocal cords. They are learning about the rare condition and understanding why she used to get those spasms.

Talking about the tour, the dates and location for her 2024 Courage World Tour were already decided and tickets were sold. It is reported that the team will be refunding all the tickets soon.
