Actor Celina Jaitly opened up on the ordeal of a “self-proclaimed Pakistani Journalist” sharing a derogatory tweet about her and how she was dealing with it.
A few months ago, a "self-proclaimed Hindi film critic and journalist" from Pakistan named Umair Sandhu shared derogatory tweets about Celina Jaitly, claiming that she "slept with both Feroz Khan (father) and Fardeen Khan (son) several times."

In a recent interview with India Today, Jaitly opened up about her filing an official complaint with the National Commission of Women (NCW) after Twitter (now X) "did nothing" to stop Umair Sandhu’s "baseless and untrue character assassinating tweets."
According to the interview, Jaitly filed the complaint on April 12, 2023. Khushbu Sundar and the NCW took the matter to the Ministry of External Affairs, who in turn got in contact with the Pakistan High Commission. Jaitly shared how grateful she was for the timely help from the Indian government.
"I understand that I am an actor. I completely understand that I have to deal with people loving me or not. Loving my work as taste in films is an individualistic choice. What I could not understand was how can someone start making content which is nothing short of online violence just for personal gain," said Jaitly in an exclusive with the news outlet.
Jaily revealed in the interview that she had no idea who Sandhu was until April 11, 2023, when she saw horrific content about her going viral on Twitter. She explained that she, along with several other people, lodged a complaint to Twitter to have his account blocked. However, Twitter’s auto-generated response claimed there were no issues with his tweet, which encouraged him to go on with his baseless and untrue character-assassinating tweets.
Jaitly stated, "He made multiple tweets at my expense, garnering him massive views the whole day, and Twitter still did not do anything."
After much deliberation, Jaitly took the issue to the NCW, where Khushbu Sundar initiated action against the complaint by moving to the Ministry of External Affairs. They got in touch with the Pakistani High Commission and requested to take stringent action at the earliest.
Jaitly expressed that she was grateful that the MEA responded supportively and initiated swift action. She said that she had attached their response to Rekha Sharma, chairperson of NCW, and was waiting for the process to take its due course.
She added that while she wasn’t aware of the Pakistani laws, she was sure they would have laws for the protection of women against cyberbullying, verbal and emotional abuse, and character assassination. She hoped the Pakistani High Commission would take stringent action in accordance with the country’s laws against such crimes.
