'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' Producer Asit Modi Accused Of Sexual Assault

Mumbai Police registered a case on Tuesday against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi, operation head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj based on a complaint filed by one of the show’s actors.

Mumbai's Powai police have filed an FIR under sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). The police haven’t made any arrests yet.

Reacting to the news of case filed against him, Asit Modi told AajTak.in said that he is denying all accusations made against him and mentioned that he had given his statement to the police. He added that he was not aware of any FIR being filed. He also said that since the case was under investigation he wasn't willing to comment further.

Case Against Asit Modi

This comes after an actor filed a complaint against producer Asit Kumarr Modi and two other crew members, accusing them of sexual harassment. Powai police had recorded the statement of the actor who made sexual assault allegations against the three men. Mumbai police stated that they will soon summon Asit Modi Kumarr for a statement.

Meanwhile, producer Asit Kumarr Modi has refuted the allegations and called them baseless. He stated that he would take legal action against the actor for trying to defame him.

Mumbai police have received a written complaint from the actor. She has claimed that producer Asit Kumarr Modi and the other two crew members have sexually harassed her. The accused trio had earlier issued a public statement denying the sexual assault allegations against them and stating that the actress was driven by vendetta as her contract with the production house was terminated. The other two crew members, Sohail and Jatin, also rejected the allegations.

In an earlier statement, they said that the actor misbehaved with the entire team. They claimed that she even rashly drove her car out at a very high speed while leaving the shooting spot without caring for the people on the way. They also accused her of damaging the set properties and added that they had to terminate her contract because of her unacceptable behaviour during the shoot.

They also claimed that during the incident, Asit Kumarr Modi was in the US and that the actor was making false accusations against them only to defame them. They added that they had filed a complaint against these baseless accusations with the concerned authorities.
