Back In Action: Retired Hollywood Icon Cameron Diaz Makes Come Back With New Film

Cameron Diaz, the franchise star of Charlie's Angels and There's Something About Mary, claimed that only Foxx could have persuaded her to get back into the movie business.

Cameron Diaz Comeback
Hollywood icon Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement for the Netflix movie Back In Action, starring Jamie Foxx. The movie reunites Diaz and Foxx, who previously collaborated on the 2014 version of Annie and the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday, which served as Diaz's last acting job before "retiring."

In a notable move, the 54-year-old actor brought in Tom Brady in an effort to persuade Cameron Diaz to end her protracted sabbatical. Diaz made a point of stating how disturbed she was about potentially making an announcement during the conversation. She confessed to being so tense that she was pacing the space without knowing how to respond.

Cameron Diaz Comeback

Foxx included a message in which he acknowledged the need for some assistance in getting Diaz back into acting. Foxx made the announcement on Twitter, posting audio from a conversation with Diaz, who was unable to express her plans to return to acting. The voice actor for Shrek also uploaded a picture of the voice call to her Instagram Story along with a note. Foxx claimed that in order to bring back another one, he had to call in the GOAT, also known as the "Greatest Of All Time." Diaz, the franchise star of Charlie's Angels and There's Something About Mary, claimed that only Foxx could have persuaded her to get back into the movie business.

According to reports, Seth Gordon, who co-wrote the screenplay with Brendan O'Brien, will direct the film. The media outlet made a note of the fact that public knowledge of the project's story aspects is currently being hidden. Foxx, one of the film's executive producers, noted that filming was scheduled to begin later this year. The anticipated release date for Back In Action has not yet been disclosed.

In the 2014 musical comedy movie Annie, in which Foxx also starred, Diaz played Miss Colleen Hannigan. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly that was ultimately made public in 2018, the artist affirmed that she had ended her acting career. In a talk with Selma Blair and Christina Applegate, the actor said that given all of her spare time, she would love to rejoin her The Sweetest Thing co-stars.
