Bridgerton is a period drama that streamed its first season in 2020 on December 25. One of the most watched series of Netflix, the series was renewed for a season 2 in April 2021 and eventually for a third and fourth season but the filming has not yet begun for those. The season 2 of the popular series is ready to don the OTT screens and the audience will again see the love chronicles of Bridgerton siblings. Let's now more about Bridgerton season 2 release date, the plot and the cast.
Bridgerton Season 2: The Viscount Who Loved Me
Bridgerton series is based on Julian Quinn's novels by the same name, It is an eight book series chronicling the romantic adventures of the eight Bridgerton siblings, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth. The series is set in 1813-1827 London and undoubtedly features the issues and stigmas of the society at that time, specially the racial aspects. Each season of the series will be based on a novel of the series, therefore there is a possibility of a total of eight seasons.
The first season of the series featured the story of Daphne, the fourth Bridgerton and the eldest daughter. The story was about her debut into the society and a spouse search that leads to a fake betrothal which later on turns real. It was loosely similar to the first book of the novel series, The Duke & I. The season was loved by all because of the awesome chemistry of Daphne (Phoebe Dynavor) and Simon Basset (Rege-Jene Page), Duke Of Hastings.
Bridgerton season 2 is expected to follow the second novel in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, that is about the love story of Anthony, the eldest of the siblings with Kate Sharma involving a disapproving sister of the girl who later warms up but maybe a little too much. Anthony is played by Jonathan Bailey and for Kate Sharma, Simone Ashley was cast for the role. Kate's elder sister, Edwina, will be played by actor Charithra Chandran. The season 2 will also see actor Rupert Young as Edmund Bridgerton, the patriarch of the Bridgerton family.
