Bridgerton Releases Season 2 First Look, All We Know About Kate Sharma The New Lead

The much-anticipated show by Shondaland Bridgerton has dropped the Season 2 first look. And we have an Indian name Kate Sharma as the lead character. So here is all We Know About Kate Sharma and Simone Ashley who will essay Kate.

The first instalment featured breakout star Regé-Jean Page opposite Phoebe Dynevor as Duke and Duchess of Hastings in Duke and I grabbed the eyeballs and broke viewership records. So what do we expect in season 2? We know this season based on part two of the series titled The Viscount Who Loved Me will have Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) at the centre.

The pictures released by the makers feature the Sharma women, Kate, Edwina (Charithra Chandran) and their mother Mary (Shelley Conn) arriving at a ball and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) can also be seen in the stills from the show's first episode. 

The news about Ashley joining the cast was first revealed in February 2021. The second season of the show is scheduled for the 2022 release, however, no dates have been announced. So here is what we know about Simone Ashley:

While in the book eldest Bridgerton brother Anthony's love interest is called Kate Sheffield, the makers have adapted the character for Ashley, making her Kate Sharma acknowledge her Indian roots.

Simone Ashwini Pillai was born to Tamil Indian parents. She also has an elder brother and they hail from Surrey. She went to ArtsEd School in Chiswick to study acting.

Her parents were hesitant about her joining an unconventional profession like acting. She had told me during an interview, "They still find it quite scary and unsettling. There is no crystal ball, no security, no guarantee. Which can be a parent's worst nightmare. But they know I'm a smart lady. You can't spend your life going with what your parents want, or your friends, teachers, lovers, want."
