Boney Kapoor on Kapil Sharma Show
Boney Kapoor recently made an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show and made some heartbreaking revelations about himself and the trauma he faced after losing his spouse in 2018. Kapoor told the host that although he had quit smoking years back, he felt the urge to smoke post Sridevi's death in Dubai because he felt distressed and alone, and thought smoking would make him feel numb. "I was in Dubai for those three-four days after she passed away there. I got so much urge to smoke because I was distressed, tensed and anxious at the same time, dealing with loneliness," he ">shared.
Continuing his account, he revealed how he had quit smoking decades back because of Sridevi. The first time she had asked him to quit the habit was in New York in 1995. "We were in New York in 1995 for some time after we had started dating and she suddenly asked me, ‘you say that you love me, so will do anything for me?', and after I answered yes, she said, 'stop smoking.'
Kapoor recalled how he used to smoke decades ago and left his habit because his love for his spouse made him do that. He continued his Dubai story, reflecting, "But then I remembered that I had left smoking because of the love I had for her, and the minute she has gone, why would I want to smoke, because I still love her even if she has gone and would want to honour that." Kapoor shared on the show how Sridevi was a substantial positive influence on her and, although she is not physically present anymore, her love for him stays with her guiding him to make better decisions in his life.
Boney Kapoor and Sridevi wedded in 1996 and were married for over two decades until she passed away in February 2018.
