Shabana Azmi's Take

Veteran actor Shabana Azmi expressed her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "I have no love lost for Kangana Ranaut. But I can't find myself joining this chorus of celebrating 'the slap'. If security personnel start taking the law into their own hands, none of us can be safe."

Speaking to the paparazzi at an event, Anupam Kher shared his disappointment. "Mujhe bara afsos hua. Ek mahila ke saath ek mahila ke dwara jo apne position ka fayeda uthakar is tarah ki harqat ki, bilkul ghalat hai. Iski kanooni karwaayi honi chahiye. Unka koi bhi rosh hai, main yeh nahi keh raha hoon ke inka rosh nhi ho sakta jisne aesa kiya, but yeh apne audhe ka ya position ka fayeda uthakar nahi karna chahiye (I deeply regret it. The way a woman slapped another woman by taking advantage of her position is completely wrong. This should be legally investigated. She can have grievances, but it shouldn't be done by taking advantage of their power."

He further added, "There are democratic ways of expressing grievances. But to do something like this is very sad and unfortunate. Not only because Kangana is now an MP or actress, but because she is a woman. Any kind of violence towards anybody is not right. This is wrong."

Shekhar and Adhyayan Suman's Views

Shekhar Suman and his son, Adhyayan Suman, also weighed in on the incident. Shekhar said, "Woh ghalat hai, woh toh bohut ghalat hai. Bohut hi durbhagyepurn hai. Aesa kisi ke saath nahi hona chahiye. It was very wrong. It was unfortunate. (This shouldn't happen to anyone.) No one has the right to do this. This is illegal. She should be punished for this. I understand she might have some anger or protest in her mind, but the way it was expressed was very wrong. It could have been said in a decent manner. You can't raise your hand on anyone like this." Adhyayan was seen nodding in agreement.

Vivek Agnihotri's Support

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, known for his outspoken socio-political views, defended Kangana on social media. He tweeted, "This incident with the @KanganaTeam must be condemned by every sane person. Why do I say 'sane'? Because only sane people understand how dangerous it is for a democracy. Those who are laughing at Kangana must know that many people don't like your tweets either. And you fly too."

Uorfi's Balanced Opinion

Influencer Uorfi shared a balanced perspective on her Instagram stories. She wrote, "I don't agree with Kangana Ranaut politically, but I still feel it ain't right to physically assault someone when you disagree with them. Not cool. Violence is never the answer."

Uorfi Javed condemned the incident in which a CISF constable slapped Kangana Ranaut.

Details of the Incident

The Mandi Lok Sabha MP had claimed in a video that CISF constable Kulvinder Kaur slapped her during a security check. Kulvinder later explained to the media that she was upset with Kangana's previous remarks about the farmers' protests. "She gave a statement... that farmers are sitting there for ₹ 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement,” Kulvinder said. Kangana had criticised the farmers' protests in 2021, which drew significant backlash.

Kangana's Political Journey

Kangana recently won the 2024 general election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, defeating Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh. She shared a photo of her new Member of Parliament identity card on Instagram, captioning it, "New identity, new identity card."

Upcoming Projects

On the acting front, Kangana is set to appear in her directorial venture, Emergencya, where she portrays former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
