 A woman's power doesn't limit her to just one job, in a specific career or even in one industry. Women have been equally involved in the Indian start-up culture, especially celebs, these days any celeb who has creative ideas, the money and the time decides to invest in some prominent venture. Recently, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with her mother Vrinda K R has invested Rs 1 crore in Bengaluru-based environment start-up Ambee. This was Rai’s first known angel investment in a start-up. Here’s a list of Bollywood actors with entrepreneurial dreams who have invested in start-ups and have pushed their own boundaries.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is at the peak of her career. And here is another feather in her cap, in March, Deepika took her creative zeal to the next level with investing in Drum Foods International Pvt, Ltd, the maker of the yogurt brand Epigamia.

Commenting on the news, Padukone had then said, “I am thrilled to join the Epigamia family. Not only do I love the products but also connect very strongly with the brand philosophy. The team has big plans for expansion and I am excited to be closely involved as we roll out new products and enter new cities.”

Priyanka Chopra

In 2018, Priyanka Chopra not only invested in the dating App Bumble but also became its brand ambassador. She is also an adviser to the women-centric app.

“A new chapter for me! I am so excited to partner with Bumble and Holberton School as an investor. I'm honoured to join two companies that strive to expand gender diversity in the tech space, and make a social impact for the greater good... let's do this,” Chopra tweeted back then.

Chopra has also invested in Holberton School, a coding education start-up, which is part of an $8.2 million round of funding that ended in April.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Shilpa invested in Group Home Buyers which helps families find residential properties at a discounted rate. In October 2011, the fitness enthused along with her husband Raj Kundra took the plunge and invested in the real-estate business. They found out about the owner of Groupco Infracom, and gave their money to the site which has also helped over 200 families find properties.

Sunny Leone

Like a true badass Sunny is the face of an online adult store IMBesharam.com, launched on September 1, 2012. The store sells a variety of products like adult toys.

Madhuri Dixit Nene

In 2014, the veteran actress invested in GOQii, a brand that specialises in wearable technology and creates fitness bands. The company was founded by Vishal Gondal in 2014, and is a California-based start-up. Her husband, Dr Sriram Nene, also reigns as the Chief Medical Officer in the company.

She also leverages the power of her talent and owns Online Dance Academy — ‘Dance With Madhuri’ and aims to help people stay fit combining dance and exercise.

Karisma Kapoor

Actress Karisma Kapoor invested in BabyOye, an e-retailer for baby products. Being a single mother herself, she owns 26 per cent stake in the business which helps mothers find baby products.

“I want to share this with every young mother. I really believe in Babyoye’s vision of giving babies the right start in life,” said Karisma at the time of the announcement.

Suzanne, Malaika, Bipasha

The trio invested in a start-up called The Label Corp which is founded by Preeta Sukhtankar. The company chose the most stylish celebrities, brought them together to build India’s first ‘editorial’ e-commerce brand.
