According to the complaint filed by the Child Protection Office, Sonu purportedly staged the adoption to garner "undue sympathy" and elevate her stature as a social media influencer. Sonu, however, refutes these allegations, asserting her innocence and insisting that all requisite procedures were duly adhered to prior to the adoption. In a previous video statement, she even presented a recorded conversation with the girl's biological parents as evidence of her transparency.
Sonu maintains that she brought the child into her home just 15 days prior and pledges to fulfil all necessary formalities within the next three months. Nonetheless, authorities express scepticism, citing Sonu's purported lack of essential information regarding the adoption process during questioning, which heightened suspicions.
Currently, Sonu is undergoing interrogation by the officials of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), who are keen on unravelling the intricacies of the adoption procedure and discerning her true intentions behind the decision. Additionally, they have asserted that custody of the child will be assumed by the authorities pending further investigation.
The case has stirred considerable public interest and debate, with many expressing concern over the welfare of the adopted child and the integrity of the adoption process. As the investigation unfolds, stakeholders await clarity on the matter and hope for a resolution that prioritises the best interests of the child involved.
