The sociopolitical thriller Bheed by Anubhav Sinha is set in India during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The director compares the 1947 Partition to the worker emigration that occurred during the 2020 lockdown. Both Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar play the key characters in the film.
The official trailer for the movie was unveiled earlier this month, which significantly increased interest in it. The trailer, however, was eventually taken down and re-released after removing a speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a sentence that alluded to the Partition, drawing mixed reactions. The movie Bheed is scheduled to open in theaters on March 24, 2023.
