With the main characters showing cannibalistic behaviour, zombie films have been able to bring several genres of cinema together. While most zombie films are classified as horror, some do cross over into other genres, including action, comedy, science fiction, thrillers, or romance.
There are now distinct subgenres such as "zombie humour" and "zombie apocalypse." Zombies are not the same as ghosts, ghouls, mummies, Frankenstein's monsters, or vampires. They became a perfect tool for invoking fear and discomfort in the audience and leaving the viewers with a lesson at times.
Comedy has also used the zombie tool to bring out the substance in many films. Films like Go Goa Gone come to mind. Ruben Fleischer's 2009 film Zombieland is also famous for its skillful use of zombies for comedy. Apart from that, Here is a list of best zombie movies of all time.
