Fashion’s biggest night out is here: the Met Gala 2023 happened on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme of the Met Gala this year is a tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019.
Known to feature unconventional fashion and breathtaking red-carpet looks, the event is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The Met Gala dates back to 1946 when it was founded, and the first major event was held in 1948. Over the past 75 years, the Gala has evolved into one of the most celebrated fashion events.
This year’s theme is based on Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, who contributed immensely to fashion throughout his lengthy career. This year's event will be hosted by Penelope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Vogue’s editor, Anna Wintour. The Met Gala 2023 has 400 guests, and acclaimed actors Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra represented Bollywood. Natasha Poonawalla and Isha Ambani also attended the prestigious event.

Bhatt finished her look with statement earrings. She took to her social media to share how she chose to wear a 'Made In India' hand-embroidered gown at the event.

She was wearing an 11-carat diamond necklace and kept her hair in a neat side-parting bun. Chopra's trench coat dress by Ralph Lauren made heads turn at the event. This is the fourth time she has attended the world-famous event.
Natasha Poonawalla
The Executive Director of the Serum Institute of India, Natasha Poonawalla, wore a silver metallic gown with soaring-up patterns, paying homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite cat choupette. Her hair was styled in a neat ponytail. Poonawala is attending the Met Gala for the fourth time.
