Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurrana) owns a small video cassette shop in Haridwar's local market. Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar) is a well-educated but overweight girl whom Prem's father wishes for him to marry. Despite his dislike for her, Prem, a dropout from school, is coerced into marrying her.

He marries her but has no feelings for her; on the other hand, Sandhya tries unsuccessfully to garner his attention after overhearing him making derogatory remarks about her to others, and the two end up on the verge of divorce. The film's plot centres around their changing circumstances and how they fall in love with each other.

The film follows the quirky, rebellious Meeta (Parineeti Chopra) and the mischievous Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) as they struggle to fit in with their separate families over the course of a decade in Mumbai. While Meeta is on the run, Nikhil runs into her at the wedding of her sister Deeksha.

Nikhil re-meets Meeta, who fled to China seven years ago after stealing money from her own father and causing his heart attack. Following a series of events, it is revealed how Nikhil falls in love with Meeta and whether he would choose his planned marriage to Karishma or his love for Meeta.

Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns

A doctor, Manu(R. Madhavan), arrives in India looking for marriage and falls in love with Tanu(Kangana Ranaut). Tanu, a fun-loving girl, enlists his help in eloping with her boyfriend instead of rejecting her proposal.

Tanu eventually realises his true love and the two marry after numerous conflicts. Four years after their wedding, the couple faces difficulties that lead to their marriage's downfall. Manu then falls in love with a young student who resembles his wife. The story continues and depicts how the pair eventually reconciles.

Barfi (2012)

Barfi Johnson (Ranbir Kapoor) is a deaf and mute young man. He runs into Shruti Ghosh (Ileana D'Cruz), a newcomer to Darjeeling. She is equally smitten by Barfi, but her mother forbids her from pursuing him. Meanwhile, Barfi attempts to kidnap Jhilmil Chatterjee (Priyanka Chopra), an autistic childhood friend and affluent heiress to her grandfather's estate, for ransom.

Following a sequence of events, Barfi and Jhilmil relocate to Kolkata, where Barfi takes charge of Jhilmil and looks after her. After six years, the plot takes a turn when Shruti is dissatisfied with her marriage and joins Barfi. The film then goes on to show how each of the three people's lives is intertwined.

 Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani (2009)

Prem Shankar Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor) is a man who meets Jennifer (Katrina Kaif) while assisting a friend to elope. He falls in love with her, but when he tries to express his feelings to Jenny, he discovers that she is dating her college classmate Rahul Jalan (Upen Patel).

He meets Rahul and discovers that Rahul loves Jenny more than his family, so he assists them in boarding a train to flee. However, Rahul vanishes at the train station, and Jenny returns to Prem in the hopes that he may assist her in locating Rahul. The story then continues to illustrate Jenny's final decision to marry Prem.

 Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008)

In the story, Jai Singh Rathore(Imran Khan) is depicted as the most nonviolent man, while Aditi Mahant (Genelia D'Souza) is depicted as an aggressive and impetuous girl. Jai and Aditi were great friends in college, despite their differences. They appear to be made for each other, a fact that is acknowledged by everyone except the two of them.

 Love Aaj Kal (2009)

Jai Vardhan Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera Pandit (Deepika Padukone) are a young London couple. They are pleased with each other, but they do not believe in tying each other down, so when their careers call, they break up but remain friends. Meera travels to India, but Jai remains in London, hoping to be called to San Francisco, where he hopes to work at Golden Gate Inc.

The story of Veer Singh Panesar, a great believer in love, relates his love story with a girl named Harleen Kaur to Jai to attempt to persuade him not to let Meera leave his life, running concurrently but set in the past. Jai and Meera are now in two different relationships after a period of time, but they soon realise that they still have feelings for one another. The plot depicts how a couple from the past and a couple from the present reunite.

  Jab We Met (2007)

Aditya Kashyap(Shahid Kapoor), the heir to a wealthy family, is despondent and suicidal and leaves a key company conference. The first person he encounters is Geet Dhillon(Kareena Kapoor Khan), an exuberantly chatty young woman. Due to the unexpected event, they stay together, and as they become closer, Aditya discusses his personal issues with Geet, and so does she.

They spend a week with Geet's family at her home, until she runs away from home that night to marry her boyfriend. After nine months, everything has changed. Aditya has transformed, and he now has a newfound sense of optimism about life. On the other hand, Geet transforms into old Aditya, and the story explains why Geet has changed and how Aditya will resurrect her previous self.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994)

Rajesh (Mohnish Bahl) and Prem (Salman Khan) are siblings who live with their uncle Kailashnath (Alok Nath) after their parents die. The family is overjoyed when the Chaudharies (Anupam Kher and Reema Lagoo), who are old family friends, offer Rajesh their daughter Pooja (Renuka Shahane) in marriage. Pooja and Rajesh have a child together.

Nisha (Madhuri Dixit), Pooja's younger sister, and Prem begin to fall in love but keep it a secret. Pooja is the one who learns their secret. Pooja, however, takes a fall at her parental house and dies as a result of her injuries without regaining consciousness. When the elders observe Nisha caring for the infant as if it were her own, they decide she should marry Rajesh. The show proceeds to show how Prem and Nisha unite.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol play Raj and Simran, two young Indians living in the United Kingdom, in the film. Anupam Kher plays Raj's father, a wealthy Indian, while Simran is Amrish Puri's elder daughter.

The story follows Raj and Simran, two young non-resident Indians who fall in love while on a European trip with their pals. Raj tries to persuade Simran's family to marry them, but Simran's father has already promised Simran's hand to his friend's son. The plot then moves on to illustrate how Raj and Simran come together.

Khubsoorat (1980)

In Pune, Nirmala Gupta (Dina Pathak), the mother of Dr Inder Gupta (Rakesh Roshan) and wife of Dwaraka Prasad Gupta (Ashok Kumar), is a severe disciplinarian who controls her family by law. Soon after, she arranges for her second son, Chander Gupta (Vijay Sharma), to marry Anju Dayal (Aradhana), a Mumbai native who is the elder sister of Manju Dayal (Rekha) and the daughter of the wealthy widower Ram Dayal.

Except for Nirmala, Manju befriends Dwaraka Prasad and gains the trust of everyone in the home. The plot then shifts to depict how things turn upside down and how Inder and Manju get together.

Chhoti Si Baat (1976)

Arun Pradeep (Amol Palekar), a mild-mannered accountant, is smitten by the good-looking young Prabha Narayan (Vidya Sinha), but his introverted personality prevents him from asserting himself. Chupke Chupke (1975)

Parimal Tripathi (Dharmendra), a mischievous botany professor, attempts a prank on his brother-in-law, Raghav (Om Prakash). Parimal chooses to mimic Raghav's new driver because he is jealous of the great regard in which his own wife, Sulekha (Sharmila Tagore), holds the other man. The disguised professor, setting the stage for a series of comic misunderstandings, casts doubt on his wife's fidelity and enlists the help of his best friend, Sukumar (Amitabh Bachchan), who impersonates Parimal.

Padosan (1968)

Bhola (Sunil Dutt) is desperately in love with Bindu (Saira Banu), but he lacks the financial means and charm to marry her. Instead, he devises a ruse with his successful vocalist friend Guru (Kishore Kumar) in which Bhola appears to serenade Bindu while actually lip-syncing to Guru's singing. The plot works, and Bindu falls for him, entranced by Bhola's alleged singing abilities until she finds the hoax.
