All You Need To Know About Bell Bottom Controversy

Bell Bottom Controversy: Actor Akshay Kumar took to Twitter on June 14, 2021, and refuted the claims made by a media report.

The film Bell Bottom has been produced by Vashu Bhagnani and has Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. Other cast members of the film are Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta.

The film has been making a buzz since even before it started filming. Shot in Glasgow during the pandemic, Bell Bottom became the first Bollywood film to be shot at an international location since all the filming stopped due to the pandemic in 2020.

What is the Bell Bottom controversy about?

• According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Akshay Kumar asked for a fee of Rs 117 crores but the film's producer Vashu Bhagnani asked Kumar to reduce his fee by Rs 30 crore and he agreed.
• The report claimed that the producer asked Kumar for a reduction in his fees because of the pandemic induced losses to the film. The uncertain nature of its potential release in theatres or OTT platforms has little chances for the film to be a commercial success or even cover up production cost.
• It also claimed that if the film ends up doing well on Boxoffice, Akshay Kumar will be reimbursed the discount amount.
• The report was straight up refuted by Akshay Kumar. In his tweet of June 14, the actor called it a fake scoop and came clean from his side.
• He retweeted the report and wrote, "When you wake up fake scoops feel like."
• This is not the first time that the people associated with Bell Bottom has to issue a clarification. Earlier, the rumours of the film releasing on OTT platforms started to do rounds. The makers then issued a statement in which refuted the reports and stated that the reported information was not communicated by them.

The film has been produced under the banner of Pooja Entertainment. The co-producers are Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Nikkhil Advani, Deepshikha Deshmukh Madhu Bhojwani and  Monisha Advani. The film was earlier supposed to release in April 2021 but was delayed due to the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
