Neha Kakkar ruining the melodious Maine Payal Hain Chhankai by Falguni Pathak has made an uproar on the internet. While some remixes have fared decently, others have proved to be a huge disappointment. The audience is no more astonished with the new wave of abrupt remixes, which says a lot about the music industry experimenting, and not for good.
Bad song remixes in the Hindi music industry featuring song remakes from originals dating decades back have been a common phenomenon recently, with some remakes sounding odd and unnecessary. If nothing, the remixes make us miss the originals more, and the listeners tend to tune back to the original soundtrack. While some recent films have had an exceptional soundtrack, most have only taken inspiration from songs that could have remained untouched for their sanctity. Five Bad Hindi Song Remixes
1. Masakali 2.0
The A.R. Rehman original Masakali from the film Delhi 6, was a classic, to say the least. The simplicity of the song was what made it grand. While the remix in the film Marjaavaan had Siddharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria coming together to recreate the magic, the song is completely flawed when compared to the original. The original, which has been a fan favourite for years now, couldn't be replaced by a new version.
2. Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi
For the 90's generation of kids, the song Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi by Falguni Pathak was a masterpiece. Pathak is linked to the grandeur of festive celebrations and nostalgia and gave a memorable song to the audience. Cut to 2019, T Series brought forward the remake of the song featuring Divya Khosla Kumar, and to not mince words, it was plain bizarre. From the video to the music, nothing matched, or made sense. The song could have maybe done well if it weren't for the necessary depiction of modernisation.
3. Chatur Naar
The 1968 Padosan is still considered an unmatched artistic composition in the history of cinema. The song Chatur Naar not only peaked at the time but is considered a great joyful source of music even today. The remix was the opposite of what the original was, or worse. The remake of the song in the film Machine featuring Kiara Advani and Mustafa Burmawala, not only generated terrible reviews but also failed to impress the fans of the song. The original, considered a comedy anthem, should have been left alone, but instead, it was remade without a failed context, to say the least.
4. Dil Mein Chhupa Loonga
This 2016 remix completely butchered the original song by legendary musician Kishore Kumar. The new song, featuring actor Sana Khan in the film Wajah Tum Ho, was a sleazy attempt. It didn't work because it didn't sound good, and instead only garnered hateful attention.
5. Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil tried making a decent attempt at bringing back Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo, but the magnitude of the ">original overshadowed the remake. We'll give it to the film for its music album as a whole with hits like Channa Mereya and Bulleya, but the remake of Farida Khanum's epic music couldn't translate well on screen. Many have tried making attempts at the classic, but the attempts by far cannot touch the soul of the song. remains a
