Akshay Kumar Played Cupid: Rahul Sharma Shares How He Met Asin
During an appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Rahul shared, “We were going for an India vs. Pakistan match (in 2012). Akshay’s movie was coming up, Housefull 2, and she was acting in that movie. And then Akshay said, ‘There’s a movie coming. We want to promote the movie.’ Since Micromax was the sponsor of the Asia Cup, it was happening in Dhaka, Bangladesh. So if somebody asks me where you met your wife, I say the most romantic place on Earth—Dhaka.”
Rahul and Asin tied the knot in 2016 and are proud parents to their seven-year-old daughter, Arin. Reflecting on Akshay’s role in their relationship, Rahul said, “His greatest contribution to my life was matchmaking me with Asin.”
After their wedding, Asin decided to step away from her acting career. Her last film was the 2015 romantic comedy All Is Well, directed by Umesh Shukla. Since then, she has embraced her life away from the spotlight, focusing on her family. Last year in June 2023, Asin allegedly deleted all photos with her husband Rahul Sharma from her Instagram account, leading to netizens wondering if the couple was headed towards divorce. It was reported that the Ghajini actor had also removed her marriage photos.
Amidst rumours, Asin has taken to her Instagram handle to shut down the speculation. She stated, "In the middle of our summer holiday right now, we are literally sitting across each other enjoying our breakfast and came across some very imaginative and utterly baseless 'NEWS.' It reminds me of the time we were sitting at home together with our families planning our wedding and we heard that we had broken up. Seriously? Please do better. (Disappointed to have wasted 5 minutes of an otherwise wonderful holiday on this!)) Have a great day, you guys."
