Netflix's hit series Scoop and its lead star, Karishma Tanna, have received nominations for the prestigious Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2023, as announced by the event organisers on Tuesday.
The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards are annual events that recognise outstanding content created for TV, OTT platforms, and online streaming across Asia. This esteemed event is organised by the Busan International Film Festival and the Korea Radio Promotion Association.
Nominations and Categories
Scoop, the critically acclaimed Hindi-language series, has secured a nomination in the "Best Asian TV Series" category. Meanwhile, Karishma Tanna is a contender for the "Best Lead Actress" award.
Scoop revolves around Jagruti Pathak (played by Karishma Tanna), a prominent crime reporter working for a Mumbai newspaper. The series takes a thrilling turn when Jagruti finds herself accused of the murder of her rival, Jaideb Sen. The show is the brainchild of creators Hansal Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, with Mehta also taking on the role of director.
Hansal Mehta expressed his delight and congratulated the entire team for this prestigious nomination. Produced by Indian production banner Matchbox Shots, the series draws inspiration from Jigna Vora's biographical book, Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison.
Tough Competition in the Best Asian TV Series Category
In the "Best Asian TV Series" category, Scoop faces stiff competition from other exceptional shows, including The Black Yard (Kazakhstan), Not Others (South Korea), Delete (Thailand), and Taiwan Crime Stories (Taiwan).
A Star-Studded Nominee List
Karishma Tanna is among the nominees for "Best Lead Actress," where she is joined by South Korean star Song Hye-kyo (The Glory), Hollywood sensation Zoe Saldana (Special Ops: Lioness), Singaporean star Rebecca Lim (Third Rail), and Malaysian actor Emily Chan (The Patient).
The Awards Ceremony
The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2023 ceremony is scheduled for October 8, to be held at the BIFF Theatre, Busan Cinema Center. This event coincides with the Busan International Film Festival, which takes place from October 4 to October 13.
The upcoming Busan International Film Festival's 28th edition will feature several Indian films making their premieres, including titles like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, Joram, Agra, and Against the Tide.
