Indian filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is all set to make her debut as a novelist with her novel Mapping Love.
Ashwiny is well-known for her films such as Nil Battey Sannata, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Panga. After contributing to the Indian cinema, the award-winning filmmaker has now donned the hat of an author. Mapping Love would be published by Rupa Publications. The 41-year-old director would launch her novel in May 2021.
In an Instagram post, the publication shared the book teaser and announced the release date of the debut novel. The publication elaborated on the content of Iyer’s book which is “set in the breathtaking jungles of India.”
“We are thrilled to share that we will be publishing award-winning, critically acclaimed director @ashwinyiyertiwari's debut novel, ‘Mapping Love’, in May 2021. Set in the breathtaking jungles of India, this enthralling story with intertwining tales will tug your heart. An artist, writer, and filmmaker, her films ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Ghar ki Murgi’, Panga’ are entertaining as well as thought-provoking conversation starters,” the post read.
The Panga director, Tiwari, also spoke about her debut novel in a statement and said, “As a storyteller, every once in a while there are stories I want to say in a medium that brings out the essence in true spirit. Mapping Love is that story of falling in love with art of writing all over again with stillness. It has taken three years typing it to life and I am filled with happiness as Rupa Publications brings my debut novel to everyone.”
On the professional front, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari would helm the biopic based on Indian IT’s first couple, Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy and author Sudha Murthy. The film will be co-written by Shreyas Jain, Piyush Gupta and Ashwiny’s husband, filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari.
