Arrest Yuvika Chaudhary trends after video of actor using casteist slur goes viral: Television and film actor Yuvika Chaudhary is facing backlash on social media, after a video of her using a casteist slur went viral. Days after Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Munmun Dutta was booked for using derogatory language in a YouTube video, the Om Shanti Om actor too has now come under the scanner for the same.

The video shows Chaudhary shooting a clip on her mobile phone inside a salon while her husband Prince Narula is also seen in the middle of a grooming session. Recording herself in front of the mirror, she makes a reference to a certain community and says she does not want to be "looking like them". This has prompted immense social media backlash against the actor and #ArrestYuvikaChaudhary is trending on Twitter today.

"Now she'll say she didn't know the meaning. Alright. This is how our industry is! Not shocked but disappointed. She is literate but as illiterate," wrote one user while another called her "narrow-minded", adding that "Caste Stigma in Ind Still exists (sic)."

"Yuvika Choudhary should be arrested," wrote another Twitter user giving an example of Munmun Dutta and how she responded to the backlash saying that she was misinformed about the casteist term because of the “language barrier”. One person commented, "Supreme Court has already said speaking within walls & not to anyone does not tantamount to invite SC/ST act & has already exonerated a person & any judgement applies on other cases too. No manual scavenging now & therefore, no one what she has spoken (sic)."

Actor Munmun Dutta got into legal trouble after using a similar casteist slur in one of her makeup tutorial videos on YouTube, following which an FIR against her was lodged under the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The 33-year-old clarified that the word she used has been “misinterpreted” and was later made aware of its meaning. Who is Yuvika Chaudhary?

Chaudhary received her big break in 2004, with an appearance on the reality talent show Zee Cine Stars Ki Khoj. Her first key role as an actor was in television serial Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani, which features Niki Aneja and Varun Badola. In 2007, she featured in Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om. Seh returned to reality television as a contestant on Bigg Boss Season 9, 2015, where she met actor Prince Narula. The couple got married in 2018.
