New Update
Anushka Sharma never fails to amaze me by being a classic combination of oomph and feminism. Whether is sharply responding to trolls who blame her for husband Virat Kohli's performance, to parenting plans ahead of her baby's arrival, Sharma is on-point, honest and speaks her mind. Here are 8 reasons why the actress is feminist goals for me.

- Anushka has on many occasions been blamed for the poor performance of her husband and India Team captain, Virat Kohli. But, the actress does not shy away in calling out her trolls. Recently, when former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar blamed her for Kohli’s performance in IPL, the actress took to Instagram and showed her dissent. She openly called Gavaskar’s message ‘distasteful’ and asked him to explain his statement on accusing a wife for her husband’s game.
- When Phillauri (2017) was rumoured to have been produced by Virat Kohli, Sharma quashed the rumours with a bold statement. She said, “I have always led my career with dignity and often chose to maintain a dignified silence on many untruthful stories, that doesn’t mean you can take my silence as my weakness and say anything without checking with me or my team. I am more than capable of producing and promoting my own films.”
- She is one of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood and has been part of Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 since 2012. She has also been featured by Forbes Asia in their 30 Under 30 list of 2018. Anushka has won multiple awards for her films, and she is the ambassador for multiple brands, also having designed her own line of clothing for women named Nush.
- As a firm believer of feminism, Sharma never shies away in expressing her views about the same. She is very vocal about social issues such gender equality and animal rights. In a statement, she said, “Feminism is about equal rights for everybody and not about male-bashing. But it’s such an abused term now. Personally, I feel that I should do the right things in life and that’s what I’m doing”.
- Anushka broke many stereotypes when she started her own production company, Clean SlateFilmz. Production is an arena which is not considered a female job or an actress’ job in general. But, Anushka proved the odds wrong here too. Her first movie, NH10(2015), which is thriller was screened at the fifth Beijing International Film Festival and earned many positive reviews. After that she has produced some beautiful and succesful movies such as Phillauri(2017), Pari(2018), Bulbul(2020) and the series Pataal Lok(2020). Her films are often different from mainstream films with a gist of feminism in them.
- The actress is multitasking goals for a lot of reasons. Whether it be managing her work life, her pregnancy or cheering for her husband in a match, Anushka has it all balanced. She can be a perfect person to give you time management lessons.
- As the actress is expecting her first child in January next year, she never fails to give her fans and society pregnancy goals. Through her social media post, she called out the society’s outlook of seeing to have a male child as a ‘privilege’. She sees having a male child as an opportunity to raise a boy who respects the opposite gender. As far as the question of her working after her delivery, the actress wants to get back to work after delivering her child. She intends to keep working for as long as she lives because acting truly makes her happy.
- Anushka has also been breaking a lot of stereotypes related to pregnancy. In a recent Instagram post, she shared a throwback photo in which she is seen pulling off a headstand (Shirshasana) with the support of a wall and her husband and cricketer Virat Kohli. The actress feels glad that she can follow her yoga routine during her pregnancy.
