Triptii Dimri Reflects on the Challenges of Pursuing an Acting Career

Originally from Uttarakhand, Triptii shared, “It was tough to step into a room filled with 50-60 people every day. My family faced judgement from society, with comments like, ‘Why did you send your daughter into this profession? She’ll get spoilt and make bad choices, and no one will want to marry her.’”

Triptii admitted that there were moments of confusion and despair during her career, especially when work was scarce. “You lose hope when you wake up and there’s no work, but I couldn’t go back to my parents and say I hadn’t succeeded,” she said. The actor was last seen in Bad Newz, and her debut film, Laila Majnu, was recently re-released in theatres, achieving greater success than in its original run. Looking ahead, she has projects lined up, including Animal Park, Dhadak 2, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

The film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, marked a turning point for Triptii. Although her screen time is limited, she left a strong impression as "the other woman" in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's story. Her on-screen chemistry with Ranbir has generated considerable buzz.

When Triptii Defended Her Decision Filming Intimate Scenes

Despite any concerns raised, she defended her decision to take on the role in Animal, stating, "I know my reasons for doing the film." She emphasised the importance of choosing roles that challenge her and push her out of her comfort zone, regardless of potential audience reactions. Reflecting on the intimate scene, She said, "If we start making decisions based on what audiences are going to say, then as actors, we won’t ever be able to do what we want to do. I want to choose roles that push me out of my comfort zone. There’s a lot of advice on offer and I listen to it all, but it comes down to instinct. I might make mistakes along the way, but I’m allowed to."

She said, "It reminded me of what my acting coach had told me, the golden rule: Never judge your character. The characters you are playing, the character your co-actor is playing, all are human and humans have good and bad side. An actor must be prepared to play characters across the spectrum of good, bad and ugly, but if you judge a character’s motivations, thoughts, you won’t be able to play it with honesty."

In her conversation with IndiaToday, she mentioned the recognition she's been receiving and delved into her discussions with Sandeep sir regarding her character. She said, "When I had discussions with Sandeep sir about the character, he told me that this is a negative character, but I don’t want you to show the negative side of her; instead, people should see the innocence in her."

She discussed the intimate scenes in the film and highlighted Ranbir and Sandeep's efforts to ensure her comfort. She mentioned Ranbir's consistent checks every 5 minutes to ensure she felt at ease. "And luckily, in my case, I've been dealing with whether I was doing the rape scene in Bulbull or this one, they kept asking me if I am okay. They also ensured that there were no more than 5 people, including the director, the DOP, and the actors during the scene. Nobody else was allowed on set, all the monitors were shut"

Dimri gained initial recognition in 2017 through her appearance in the comedy movie Poster Boys, helmed by director Shreyas Talpade. This film was an official remake of the Marathi film Poshter Boyz and featured an impressive lineup including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Shreyas Talpade, Sonali Kulkarni, and Samikssha Batnagar.
