'Dune' Actor Alicia Witt's Parents Found Dead At Massachusetts Home

Hollywood actor Alicia Witt's parents have been found dead in a tragic incident at their home in Massachusetts, United States, as per reports. The 46-year-old star of films like Dune and Fun had not heard from the elderly couple for several days prior to their demise, she said in a statement. Witt has asked for privacy to grieve what she described as a "surreal loss."

Police authorities say no signs of foul play have been detected but are yet to give a confirmation on the cause of Robert and Diane's deaths. The case is presently under investigation in Worcester, where the late couple lived.

"I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable," Witt said about finding out her parents were no more.

Reports suggest the bodies were discovered Monday night after a member of the family contacted the police calling for assistance. The circumstances of their deaths are being described as mysterious, given the absence of trauma and poisonous air quality, two explanations that were previously being cited as possible causes behind their deaths.

Some reports, quoting locals, say the couple might have been ill and that they were not seen out of doors much. An autopsy is expected to reveal more details on the case.

Who Is Alicia Witt?

Witt has numerous film and television credits to her name, starting from 1984 when she was discovered as a child actor by director David Lynch and cast in his sci-fi film Dune. Her portrayal of Alia Atreides was memorable and kicked off her acting career on a high. She also went on to appear in several popular series like Twin Peaks, The Sopranos, Two and a Half Men. She is also a musician and songwriter.

Both Witt's parents were school teachers and she is notably recognised as a child prodigy whose learning began younger than usual and who accomplished feats across co-curricular activities, including music and theatre.
