Alia Bhatt has made great strides in her career since she made her acting debut in Karan Johar's 2012 Student of the Year. Today, one more feather added to her crown. An international publication named her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi as one of the year's "greatest performances." She responded to the announcement by posting it on social media.
A new ranking of the best and worst movie performances ever was published by The Guardian, as per their writers. Tom Hanks, Cameron Diaz, Lupita Nyong'o, and Jennifer Lawrence were all mentioned in the list, along with Alia Bhatt.
Gangubai Kathiwadi is based on S. Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai and depicts the journey of Gangu, who was sold into a brothel in Kamathipura, Mumbai. In the movie, Bhatt played Gangu, who evolved into a brothel madam who campaigns for sex workers' rights.
Alia Bhatt In Guardian Best Performances List:
Regarding Bhatt, the article's author, Mike McCahill wrote, "As the real-life figure of Ganga Harjivandas, the self-improving sex slave who became queen of Mumbai’s 1960s red-light district, Bhatt makes complete emotional sense of a rollercoaster character arc. Her extraordinarily expressive dancing in drum number Dholida tells its own story: veering from communal celebration to personal desolation, it’s a walloping three-minute tabulation of everything this woman has gained and lost."
