Aruna Bhatia passes away: Actor Akshay Kumar's mother Aruna Bhatia passed away on September 8. The news was shared by Kumar on social media. Bhatia has been in ICU for the past few days in critical condition, due to which Kumar had left the shooting of his upcoming film Cinderella in London midway, so that he could be by his mother's side.
"She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period," Kumar wrote in his post.

On September 6, it was reported that Bhatia had been unwell for the past few days and had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai. As his mother's condition worsened, Kumar decided to fly back to India from the United Kingdom. "Akshay is extremely attached to his mother and could not stay away from her while she’s not well, so he decided to fly back to India in a sudden decision," a source close to the actor revealed.
Associated with Akshay Kumar banner Hari Om Films (named after the actor's late father), Bhatia had acted as producer for several of his films like Patiala House, Airlift, Singh Is King, Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, Rustom, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Mission Mangal. She had also produced Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana, in which Kumar made a short appearance.
Bhatia is survived by her son Akshay Kumar and daughter Alka Bhatia.
