The trailer of the horror suspense drama Soorpanagai was unveiled on September 14 revealing Regina Cassandra and Akshara Gowda in lead roles. The trailer of the multilingual film seems to take viewers back and forth in time, with a series of mysterious deaths forming the backdrop.
The trailer was unveiled by Actor Vijay Sethupathi on Tuesday. The horror drama is said to deal with mysterious deaths and other suspense elements.
Cassandra plays the role of an archaeologist in the movie. She is seen assisting in the investigation which deals with 100 years old skeletons, murders and fast decomposing dead bodies among others. On the other hand, a bunch of ancient ghosts continue to seek revenge against their arch enemies, even after a decade.
The title of the film is reportedly derived from the epic Ramayana's popular character Soorpanagai. She was the sister of the Asura king Raavanan.
The plot has a close resemblance to movies like Arundhati, Chandramukhi, and even Bhaagamathie. The film is written and directed by Caarthick Raju. Apart from Cassandra and Gowda, the film stars Vennela Kishore, Tagapothu Ramesh and Jaya Prakash among others.
Touted to be a multilingual release, the film was reportedly shot in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. While the Tamil title is Soorpanagai, it is called NeneNaa in Telegu. The thriller movie's first look poster featured the lead actor in a regal attire with a horror aura while the second poster showed her getting down and dirty in the field, excavating bones.
The film’s post-production work is reported to be nearing completion and is expected to make its way into cinemas soon.
